Home Study Programs for Electrologists
The AEA Office of Continuing Education (OCE) want CEU earning opportunities to be an easy
alternative for CPEs. We believe that continuing education improves knowledge, safeguards
patient/client health and well being, and enhances the professional image of electrology.
The Continuing Education Review Committee (CERC) have approved several sources of continuing
education home study but no retroactive granting of CEUs is permitted.
NOTICE: A JOE or Pre-approved Home Study Course may only be taken once.
From time to time these courses need to be updated and may not be available. Please check
with the company for prices and availability as they are subject to change without notice.

Obtaining CEU Credits
To record completed AEA/OCE Pre-approved Home Study Courses, all submissions must be made
via the “Independent Study Recording Fee” in the AEA store. A transcript,
certification of completion, or verification of attendance must be uploaded as a PDF, JPEG,
or PNG file to be eligible for recording. All documentation must be submitted to the CERC
office within 90 days of the event. After 90 days, a late fee of $15 will apply, and events
older than 180 days (six months) will not be accepted. Please note that
mail submissions will not be accepted.
Additionally, JOEs must be completed online via the “JOE Online Exam Registration”
in the AEA store, with no mail-in options available. Only JOE issues with a publication date
within the last five (5) years will be accepted for recording. This process ensures the timely
and accurate tracking of continuing education, in line with AEA guidelines.
Processing Fees
With the exception of the AEA Journal of Electrology, the above courses are independent
learning events. A processing fee of $20 ($50 for non-AEA members) is required for CEU entry
into the database. Please allow up to 60 days for receipt
of your updated CEU transcript. The Office of Continuing Education is here to assist you
in your Continuing Education goals. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions:
